>>LEXINGTON, Mass., September 3, 2003 - Ipswitch, Inc. today announced the availability of a new WhatsUp Gold Failover Package to increase assured uptime for network-dependent organizations. For less than $2,000, companies can benefit from the award-winning network monitoring capabilities of WhatsUp Gold and a new WhatsUp Gold failover module developed to better protect against system downtime and inevitable network interruptions.
The WhatsUp Gold Failover Package is a powerful solution that enables network administrators to maintain normal monitoring functions if the server on which WhatsUp Gold resides is unavailable due to planned or unplanned events. Two systems using WhatsUp Gold are configured identically and designated as the primary and secondary systems with a failover notification installed in the primary system. The secondary system then constantly monitors the primary system for availability. When availability ceases, the secondary system takes over and begins monitoring until the primary system regains status. The dual systems do not place additional strain on network bandwidth consumption since only one system is active at any given time and no redundant monitoring occurs.
“By providing continued monitoring when primary monitoring is interrupted, the WhatsUp Gold Failover Package offers added value to network administrators,” said Ipswitch Senior Vice President of Customer Acquisition and Retention Edward Adams. “More than 40,000 networks worldwide rely on WhatsUp Gold to provide maximum network uptime and the WhatsUp Gold Failover Package is one more enhancement that significantly aids in this effort.”
WhatsUp Gold is Ipswitch’s powerful, yet easy-to-use network discovery, mapping, monitoring, notification and reporting tool. It is an inexpensive solution that provides high value through real-time views of a network’s performance, and alerts IT administrators to network problems remotely by pager, voicemail or e-mail before they turn into expensive downtime events. ...<<
