WhatsUp Gold NetFlow Monitor Features-Übersicht

The WhatsUp Gold NetFlow Monitor plug-in adds the following new functionality to WhatsUp Gold, Standard, Premium, Distributed and MSP editions:

NetFlow Monitor Home Workspace:

Fully integrated with the WhatsUp Gold web management console, the NetFlow home workspace provides access to configuration, management and the reporting capabilities of WhatsUp Gold NetFlow Monitor. For example, from the NetFlow home workspace, you have the ability to designate NetFlow sources, configure role based management, set NetFlow logging levels and manage NetFlow data retention timeframes. In addition to supporting all standard ports and protocols, NetFlow monitoring can be configured for both non-standard ports and proprietary protocols via the NetFlow home workspace.

NetFlow Database:

To ensure optimal performance the WhatUp Gold NetFlow Monitor collects flow records and stores them in a dedicated SQL Server database. Integrated management tools allow you to decide and configure NetFlow data retention policies. Depending on the amount of NetFlow data produced by the network, NetFlow records can be retained indefinitely, depending on the configured retention policy. NetFlow data is summarized on a regular schedule to ensure the database is optimized for the highest possible performance.

NetFlow Collector:

The NetFlow collector acts a centralized collection point for NetFlow data. The collector analyzes the raw data and then forwards the data to the NetFlow SQL Server database based upon the configured data rollup interval. It receives NetFlow export records from all configured sources and ensures that they are received and any data that is not required is discarded, including NetFlow data from nonsupported versions.

Reporting:

Using data produced by NetFlow enabled switches and routers; WhatsUp Gold NetFlow Monitor consolidates flow data and presents you with five top-level report categories:

  • Interface Details
  • Interface Overview
  • NetFlow Bandwidth Usage
  • NetFlow Log

From the Interface Details, Interface Overview and NetFlow Bandwidth Usage reports, you have the ability to drill down to see specific information about an interface, user, protocol or application. Data from within these reports can be sorted by filters to extract the exact information needed to understand traffic between users and specific internal applications or external domains.

NetFlow Log:

Within the NetFlow Log, you can access systems wide messages generated by the NetFlow Monitor. There are three levels of logging available; Verbose, Normal and Errors Only, with each level displaying decreasing amounts of information. Reports can be filtered by date and time or severity, depending on the logging level that has been configured.
