Mastering GDPR: A Guide to Efficient Management

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has applied across the European Union since 25 May 2018. For many responsible professionals, the question consequently shifted from “What needs to be done?” to “How can it be managed efficiently?”

The original guide consisted of two parts.

Part 1: Core GDPR Principles

The first part explained the fundamental requirements for collecting and storing personal data. These included data quality as well as integrity and confidentiality. Its purpose was to establish a shared understanding of the principles before tools and processes were selected.

Part 2: The GDPR Operating Framework

The second part translated those principles into an operating framework. Using erwin data governance software for demonstration, it considered tasks including:

• discovering, collecting, and classifying data,
• assigning responsibilities to data stewards and process owners,
• organizing processing and evidence workflows,
• supporting reporting and auditing.

The historical download led to a form-based route. That route currently returns a server error, and no public PDF download could be verified.
